On Saturday, August 12 2017, will open an exhibition entitled “Dialog dalam Celah”. The exhibition is part of a visual arts lab (Project Tumbuh Rupa) that encourages artists from different disciplines to collaborate and engage in creative investigations–involving members of the general public to become an important resource to the artists’ inquiry.
‘Generation gap’ is a common term which emerged in the 60’s, to refer a situation in which two age groups start to view the world through a totally diferent perspective. Usually it shows in language, appearance, technology, even politic and life values. The development of technology and media also accelerate such cultural change, therefore generation gap changes drastically.
Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja’s (PSBK) visual arts platform Ruang Seni Rupa brings together four artists from different disciplines to develop an exhibition inspired by discussions with society regarding hopes, demands, responsibility, and modes of communication between generations. It’s not an attempt to find a solution, but together they would delve into various daily events, and also to create a space of criticism for ourselves and the practice of relationship between generations.
