{"id":914,"date":"2019-03-08T17:10:46","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T17:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caglark-23f4.temp-dns.com\/who-you-are\/2019\/03\/08\/home-page-intro\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T12:24:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T12:24:20","slug":"home-page-intro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caglark.com\/who-you-are\/home-page-intro\/","title":{"rendered":"home page intro"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>this project was born out of a residency with yogyakarta organisation psbk (british council indonesia season 2017) which challenged and inspired me in equal measures. i explored issues that have always been central to my practice as a queer, disabled, immigrant artist. particularly surprising was when it was suggested at one point that my viewpoint was \u201cwestern.\u201d\u00a0 it made me ask: what makes us who we are, and what does that mean in terms of culture, relationships, family, religion, sexuality and disability? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>looking at current identity politics, this is especially timely. i am interested in how our identity is impacted by where we are, or who we are with, particularly in a time where many of us are put under the microscope as \u2018migrants\u2019 or \u2018refugees\u2019.\u00a0 we all change and move, some out of necessity, some by force, others by choice, all of which affects how we are seen or see ourselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018what makes you who you are\u2019 is a research-based multimedia\u00a0 installation exploring identity through the use of transmedia storytelling, including augmented reality (ar). the narrative relies on stories and experiences, created through improvisations with actors. it focuses especially around how identity is impacted by disability, ethnicity and sexuality and the intersectionality of these three elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u2018what makes you who you are\u2019 is capturing a snap shot of \u2018who we are\u2019 at any specific moment, evolving not only through space, but through time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>background this project was born out of a residency with yogyakarta organisation psbk (british council [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":888,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-914","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
